NEW YEAR, NEW RESOLOUTIONS AND TRYING TO STICK TO THEM!

Hello everyone! Welcome to my site and my blog.

I would like to start off by saying thank you for taking the time to read this and checking out my site and work (if you have).

My name is Anna Sklavos. I'm a Toronto based Photographer, Videographer and musician.

I've always had a passion for the arts, since a young age. I remember always doodling, humming random music, messing around on keyboards, pianos and guitars. Watching movies and loving them, only to come up with my own stories and ideas and visualizing them as animations or actual films.

Although I may not be as literate as some people when it comes to the theory of things, (I can't read music and I wouldn't be able to explain every function that is available to me on my camera) I've always had a vision (audio or visual). That vision is what led me to follow this field and grow even more passionate with everything I learned.

So here I am writing and preparing to publish my first blog post on my site and hoping to stick to it!

Life is hard, and I know that a lot of people can agree with that. Some people are able to trudge through life and do just what they need to to get through it. Unfortunately I am not one of those people.

When I'm passionate about something I will pursue it until I know that nothing can come of it and I will move on to my next goal.

So with all that out of the way I would like to start with what this is actually about!

The last year or so of my life hasn't been as ideal as my grand visions had led me to believe.

With life giving me a good kick in the arse I haven't had the time to actually pursue what it is I love. Photography, Film and Music. I was always stressing about making it for the next bill, making sure I have the funds to get through the month and heavily debating if investing in a piece of equipment is worth it in the long run.

One step at a time I've decided that I'm gonna make sure I'm still getting my creative release and working towards doing what I love.

I've decided that every week, on one of my days off I will go out into this wonderful city and just shoot, photos, videos anything. Just to get rid of that itchy shutter finger and to keep the creative juices flowing. I'm doing this for no one but myself and my sanity.

To those reading I invite you to join me if you'd like! If you're available and want to come out, feel free, e-mail me, get in touch lets do this. You wanna shoot photos? Come on down, you wanna shoot video? You are more than welcome. You wanna be the focus and stand in front of the lens, LETS DO IT! Anyone and everyone is welcome. You don't know how to use a camera and wanna learn? Come on down! I won't say no to anyone. Let's all gather and get creative, learn from another.

As the first week of January has passed, I've already started this new weekly routine.

I called a good friend of mine and on Tuesday January 3rd of 2017 we hit up downtown Toronto and just went about shooting anything that caught our eyes. It was a good fun time and it was interesting to see what we each envisioned, what caught our attention and then how we each decided to shoot the same subject occasionally.

We didn't go out to create stunning works of fine art, no, we went out to spark our creativity and imagination again, to bounce ideas from each other, to see why I chose to shoot something one way and why he chose the other.

If you're still reading this, thank you, I appreciate it and I hope you enjoyed my little random blurb.

Thank you for caring.

Images from our shooting day are available for viewing here, take a look, let me know what you think. Feeback and constructive criticism is welcome, we are all constantly learning and hearing - or in this case reading - an explanation as to why someone would approach shooting an image differently might shed light on something I might've never thought about or noticed before.

Once again, thanks for checking it out guys!

I'm serious if you wanna join me next time, shoot me an e-mail and we'll work something out.
